GOLF COMMUNITIES,  GOLF  COURSES  & COUNTRY CLUBS:

Miami is best known for it’s tropical feel …  sun drenched beaches, sizzling nightlife and temperate climate.  Beyond that though, Miami is a world class golf destination… offering resort, private, and public golf courses for competitive as well as recreational golfers… and golf communities where one can indulge.  For anyone who loves the sport, there are numerous choices that will appeal.  I’ve included a link here for South Florida Golf Destinations.  Below are links to a number of exclusive  private golf communities in Miami-Dade (as well as private country clubs and public golf courses)…  I’ve highlighted several of the most highly regarded courses and communities.   You can access other South Florida golf options here as well.

PRIVATE GOLF CLUBS:               

Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club –   Deering Bay is a  private waterfront, gated, golf community on Biscayne Bay in Coral Gables, with a championship, 18-hole Arnold Palmer designed golf course, two marinas, lighted clay tennis courts, a clubhouse, spa and fitness center, fine dining.  The private, gated enclave consists of 220 acres just off of Old Cutler Road… and options of beautiful single family homes, villas, and condos … many of which have absolutely breathtaking intercoastal and ocean views with Biscayne Bay to one side, and  Gables and Miami skylines another.

Fisher Island Golf :   Private and accessible solely by private ferry, helicopter, yacht or seaplane, as there is no bridge access whatsoever. The 216 acre  island is self-sufficient, with it’s own schools, spa and fitness complex, tennis center (clay, grass  and hard courts), post office, two marinas (which can accommodate yachts larger than 200 feet long), hotel, market, fine dining, and private beach club. Transportation around the island is by car or golf cart. Magnificent waterfront  golf course  was designed by P B Dye. The once privately owned island is just off from the mainland of Miami and to the immediate south of Miami Beach, situated between Biscayne Bay the Atlantic Ocean.

Indian Creek Golf Community–  Private. Miami Beach Intercoastal Waterfront Estates encircle the private 18 hole championship golf course .  The course was designed by William S Flynn.  Homes and Villas have private docks … with ocean access.  Country Club and Golf Course are perhaps the most prestigious on Miami Beach.

La Gorce Country Club  Private.  Miami Beach (Alton Road on Bay Harbor Island) –  Golf Course was re-designed by Jack Nicklaus and is held in high esteem. Very exclusive.  The 13th hole is a 150 yard, tree lined, par 3.

Miami Shores Country Club – In Miami Shores.

Ocean Reef Golf Club –  Private Club located in Key Largo, and designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Haggee.

Presidential Country Club – Private Club in North Miami Beach designed by Tom Fazio.

Riviera Country Club – Private Club in Coral Gables designed by Donald Ross. Tennis, Golf, Fine Dining

Williams Island – Private Country Club (Golf and Tennis) in North Miami Beach.

Weston Hills Country Club – Weston Hills has two 18-hole golf courses created by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The Tour Course, built in 1990, is 7,069 yards from the championship tees. The Players Course was built in 1994 and is 7,272 yards from the championship tees. This golf course has been host to the Dan Marino Celebrity Invitational, the PGA Honda Classic, the LPGA Chrysler Plymouth Tournament of Champions as well as hosting numerous USGA qualifying events.

PUBLIC GOLF COURSES:

Biltmore Golf–  Public Golf Course designed by Donald Ross, in the heart of Coral Gables. The Biltmore is a landmark hotel with public golf course, spa, fitness center, pool, and tennis (hard courts).

Miami Beach Golf–  Public 18 hole Golf Course  (as well as a par 3 – 9 hole course) originally known as Bayshore Golf, is located on Miami Beach (Alton Road & Prairie) and designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Devlin … with water challenges.

Normandy Shores Golf Club – Public 14 hole golf course on Miami Beach with a number of water hazards.

Crandon Golf – Crandon Park Golf Course & Driving Range, formerly known as “The Links at Key Biscayne.” Championship 18-hole golf course, the only public course on the bay. The course was designed in 1972 and redesigned in 1993 and features holes overlooking Biscayne Bay, mangrove thickets, seven saltwater lakes, sand traps and the world’s largest tee. It has hosted the Senior PGA Tour since 1987 and has been rated in the Top 10 Golf Courses by GolfWeek and Golf Digest has named it among America’s Top 75 courses.
