As one of the busiest airports in the country, Miami International Airport is seeing some much needed changes. The facility has already undergone major upgrades and has more in store. So far, the 1.7 million sqaure foot South Terminal is open and the 3.2 million square foot North Terminal is expected to be completed in 2011.
In order to save passengers a long walk between these grand terminals, MIA has constructed the Automated People Mover, which crosses the entire North Terminal in 3 minutes while moving 9,000 passengers an hour.
Also under construction and to be completed by the end of 2011 is the Miami Intermodal Center, featuring rental car services as well as connections to the Metro Rail System and Miami’s Tri Rail System. The MIC will be connected to the airport with a people mover, also to be completed by the end of next year.
The new Miami International Airport is ready for the continued growth of Miami. It will certainly make getting in and out of the area much easier for those of you looking to move to the South Florida area. The Restivo Team is ready to help you find your new home, so contact us today!
