There are many small ways to contribute to the Green movement, like chaning lightbulbs to compact fluourescent lights (CFL) or installing an energy efficient showerhead. Another change might be to change your thermostat to a programable device. These are some relatively inexpensive and quick ways to Go Green. Some more complex ways to retrofit your home would be to install solar panels or buy energy efficient appliances.

As an incentive, the government is offering Floridians rebates on Energy Star appliances purchased between April 16 and April 25 2010. The rebate will be about 20% of the purchase price of the appliances to replace old non-energy efficient ones. You must apply for this rebate here by May 10, 2010.

There is also a $75 incentive to recycle the ole appliances. If you can prove that you have recycled the old stuff, the State can give you the money. Here is a list of approved appliances and recycle centers.

So go ahead…GO GREEN!
