In digging through the South Grove on behalf of buyers, aching for a Small Grove House with a Cottage, we uncovered two Grove homes that stand out – each currently listed for sale – each rather intriguing.
The first is unobtrusively hidden away behind a coral rock wall. 3925 Leafy Way is secreted out back behind a separate garage/cottage along the street front. The house itself is a two-bedroom built in 1925 and has 1,235 sq feet of living space in the main house.
At the rear of the house there’s a free-form rock-pond, the size of a swimming pool. There’s a chickee hut, grounds, and paths lush with vegetation. If you’re looking for something unique … old, with character… this might be worth seeing. It’s listed by Nerisse with EWM Realtors, and priced at $849,000.00.
Another unusual Grove House, in South Grove, is 3564 Avocado Avenue: A two-bedroom two-story ‘cottage’ that looks as though it were designed by a master ship-builder out of pecky cypress… with cubbies and porches and patios… secluded and nestled into the greenery… . No usable nook or crannie of this 1,562 sq foot house went unutilized! And the house has had only three owners since being built in 1936.
Behind the house itself is a second structure: an open air, covered, entertainment area that extends out from the “garage” and from a second-floor guest cottage. The property is another listed by Nerisse through EWM Realtors, and priced at $619,000.00. I dont’ know which has more charm and appeal, the house or it’s guest cottage.
