Misha’s Cupcakes. Who would have thought cupcakes would ever be the rage in Miami (or anywhere for that matter!)?
And what I’m dying to know is what on earth they put in them to
make them so intoxicating! I discovered them, by sheer chance I might add, at an open house…and have served them myself at several open houses. I’m afraid I’ve have become a addict! Everyone in Miami seems to know the name “Misha’s Cupcakes”. The seed for this booming business sprouted when Misha Curyla-Gomez donated homemade cupcakes to a fundraiser supporting breast cancer. As with Mrs. Field’s cookies (first handed out as free samples to get people hooked and hopefully bag some orders in Palo Alto, by a Stanford University student) , Misha’s decadently rich cupcakes are showing up everywhere in Miami… at the Café’ at Books and Books in Coral Gables, at Marble Slab Creamery, at South Miami’s Morning Call Bakery, as well as at Myra and Company (the Spa /Pilates Center in South Miami), at the 1909 Café in the Gables, and at Town (the trendy new hot spot) in South Miami. Misha’s Café recently opened at 1560 S Dixie Hwy (in the strip mall just down the block from Miami’s Best Pizza, and across the street from the University of Miami) .. mini cupcakes selling there for $1.00 each. (a bargain!) Can you buy a pack of gum for that? Misha’s makes a ‘to die for’ coffee cake, and custom creates cakes, or “cake illusiones”: individual mini cupcakes arranged on a platter… frosted in such a way as to appear to be a single cake, but aren’t!
