A picture is worth a thousand words!   I’ve questioned  (so many times!) WHY Florida laws require  homes to have HEAT, and no laws  whatsoever requiring AIR CONDITIONING.    tennis

With temperatures dipping close to freezing in Florida for days now… 2010 is off to a brisk start … Our local farmers  are worried about their citrus crops (as well as their orchids, fruits and vegetables) … which could suffer from frost damage or ruin…  if the temperatures hit the freezing mark.

I put on the requisite ‘layers’ this morning…  and bundled up for a tennis match … laughing at myself (because I was complaining about the cold).   Miami finally gets a tiny taste of winter… and we are shivering .   It gets down to the upper 30’s or low 40’s  for a few brief days each  year… at night and  into the early morning  hours (before  our temperatures rise  into the 50’s) … So, we shiver as we’re pumping gas … and we race our to the driveway and back in, grabbing our newspapers.  (I’ve only heard of ONE windshield cracking… it happened to a friend/co-worker at EWM Realtors!).

Sunny South Florida… Within hours of waking up,  we’re at a comfortable 52 degrees  in Miami …  still bundled up…. and marveling at the one cracked windshield that succumbed to frostbite.   The  news blurps  are talking about 52 inches of snow in upstate New York.  No, it’s not freezing by any means here in Miami (at least not for more that a few hours!)… but it’s cold enough to turn  the heat on at night  (for a few hours, just befor we go to bed)… and warm enough to be outdoors, playing tennis in the morning … in January.
