Coral Gables is now home to Italian Eyewear. The designer sunglass boutique at 204 Aragon (just off of Ponce de Leon by Sushi Maki) opened it’s Gables storefront in November 2009. Still without signage, the wholesale distributor has expanded from it’s former Miami International Airport location, and is offering discounted pricing on designer sunglasses – Chanel, Bulgary, Gucci, Dior, Prada…
The newcomer to the Gables is competing with larger local and international chains for a niche market… the high-end consumer looking for discounted pricing.
The Gables, as elsewhere, has seen it’s share of turn-over … restaurants, stores, boutiques and businesses … So far, Italian Eyewear (305) 773-5683 seems to be honing in on the local market.
Just up the street, “Books and Books” and “Caffe Abbracci” (305) 441-0700 are long-standing pillars of the Gables community. The Gables has seen some welcome growth… in recent months. A number of newcomers to the community appear to be doing well despite the season, and the current economic situation…. among them boutique stores, caffes and restaurants. Local businesses (responded to a recent survey) saying they wanted more ice cream stores!
The Gables has a handful of charming condominium options… all within pedestrian reaches of the heart of Coral Gables… on Majorca Avenue, Merrick Way, Sevilla … near Coral Way and Miracle Mile, The Biltmore Hotel.
Future plans for Coral Gables include several European-style townhomes and pied-a-terres… several of which have recently been completed… others are currently still under construction…and several are in the pre-construction planning stages. Commercial space is available, as well as residential options.
