Weed out. Sort through. Get rid of whatever you DON’T want in your new home. Have the requisite garage sale, call whichever company will come to pick up donations, and toss out anything else.

Interview several moving companies by phone, and get quotes.
Jot down each of the utility companies that you’ll need to contact.
You will have various records that need to be transferred (doctors/dentists/prescription/school records/veterinary/banks).
Research online whatever you can about the neighborhood you are moving to … The more familiar you are with your new surroundings before the move, the easier it will be to assimilate.
The day of the move, make sure you have phone numbers handy. You’ll also need cash, snacks, and water… plane tickets and ID… car keys, driving directions, GPS, and your cell phone.
