South Miami residents have waited a long time to see a community pool added to Murray Park and they may finally get their wish. Construction could start late next year, as the city now has enough money to build it.

community poolCity Commissioners could give City Manager Roger Carlton the green light to start designing the project as well as applying for building permits. Carlton told the Commissioners that he has more than $1.4 million in grants from the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency Funds as well as from the County’s Housing and Community Development department. Approximately $317,000 is set aside for the design of the pool with the rest saved for the pool’s construction.

There are still a few concerns regarding the pool’s construction, but the Commissioners and the City Manager will continue their discussions. Carlton believes that “every community needs a pool,” and South Miami might soon have one. For the complete article, click here.
